Dedicated to bringing bicycle power to events, festivals and schools. A not-for-profit organisation based in Manchester, we build bicycle generators to power music and films in various forms focussing on public participation to create a unique project.
We are passionate about bikes, driven by raising awareness about issues surrounding the environment and fuelled along by creating sustainable energy in a fun and exciting way. We are also immersed in our local community and encourage involvement from people at every level. We hope to promote sustainable lifestyles, healthy living and the joy of cycling in a fun and involving way.

Oh joy! The evenings are getting warmer + we can play out on our bicycles later wearing t-shirts and alas, set up our brand new pedal powered cinema rig and show some beautiful films at dusk. Ride to Glastonbury with PoWWow!

We are very excited to announce that this year, PoWWow Pedal Power have teamed up with Glastonbury Festival to offer a guided bike ride from Bristol to the festival.
We will meet in central Bristol on Wednesday 22nd June, and ride in a group to the festival. Our trained marshals will be on hand to lead the way and help out with any problems, and cyclists’ luggage will travel separately in our support vehicle.
Like all our events there will be sustainably-powered music along the way, and hopefully a fun way to start the festival early on 2 wheels!

F I N A L L Y : is Spring here, then? Setting up the event in the rain that morning, it sure didn’t feel like it… But to our wonder, the skies stop being pests + let us get on with our first event of the season : HOLI, LEAP into SPRING + COLOURFUL WOMEN = 3 events in one. Put on by PPP’s other strand, PoWWow Arts + The Friends of Platt Fields, this event was programmed as part of International Women’s Day (hence, Colourful Women).

It’s because the last Live Art : Live Art was such a stonking success, that the wonders at Akemi Arts decided to treat the people of Manchester once again. Another all-round splendour of a line-up spilled out of Contact Theatre, luring non-stop participation from enthralled audiences trying their hands at life drawing, scrawling on huge sheets of canvas with Used Pencil, sharing stories in intimate books, singing along with performers like Jezabelleza + sitting back to enjoy the captivating blues performed by Rik Warren. Closing the night were Age of Glass : seriously : these guys are BRILLIANT! Performance art + poetry as well, with pedal power from us, just in case people thought for a moment that they wouldn’t be involved in the evening!

What a lucky lucky cycling world Manchester has, soon to be hosting another furiously action packed I Bike MCR festival! Dissecting the city for everything it’s got, the festival will beam its way through the busy streets, parks and nearby country roads for a whole month! Officially launching itself on 25th March with an extra special CARNIVAL CRITICAL MASS, complete with a parade of home-made BICYCLE LANTERNS – which you can come + make with us on Thursday 24th March at The Boathouse, Platt Fields Park- for FREE- 5pm onwards.
